Tips for Using Floor Sanders

Over at The Devil Queen houseblog, John shares his experiences and advice after starting to sand their floors using both a traditional drum sander and a smaller edger.
He starts off by saying he was wary of all the cautionary tales he heard from others, but ultimately found the tools more managable than he'd hoped. That said, he was surprised to find the edger to be the trickier of the two.
"For those of you who are not familiar with edgers, they are basically giant orbit sanders on steroids. And, they are not random orbit sanders either. They are one giant spinning disk of sanding death."
His post goes on to list process and techniques he found most successful. Definitely worth a read.
